BCS Standings 2010 – Oklahoma Sooners open Number 1: When the first BCS Standings of 2010 were announced Sunday night (Oct. 17), it was predicted Oklahoma would open at No. 1, based on their strength of schedule. And those predictions were correct, as the Sooners opened on top followed by Oregon and Boise State. The two major media polls, Associated Press (AP) and USA-Today/Coaches, had Oregon No. 1 followed by Boise State and Oklahoma.
BetUS.com listed Oklahoma's odds of winning the 2011 BCS Championship at +700.
It was only a week ago when experts were predicting that Boise State would land on top of the initial 2010 BCS Standings, but a loss to Washington by Oregon State hurt their strength of schedule, a problem that will nag the Broncos this entire season. BSU took hits on their strength of schedule just by playing San Jose State on Saturday, in spite of their winning the game 48-0.
Auburn, currently undefeated at 7-0, landed at No. 4 in the BCS Standings, ahead of TCU. The Horned Frogs are ranked fourth in the AP and Coaches polls followed by Auburn.
The BCS Standings rank LSU in the No. 6 spot, followed by Michigan State, Alabama, Utah and Ohio State. The Crimson Tide and Ohio State each have one loss.
The AP and Coaches polls agree with the BCS with LSU ranked sixth but have Alabama and Michigan State at seventh and eighth. The media polls also have Utah ninth. The AP has Wisconsin 10th and the Coaches have Ohio State at No. 10.
