Tulsa vs UTEP College Football Picks, College Football Odds & College Football Predictions: Tomorrow night the Tulsa Golden Hurricane will attempt to extend their lead in the Conference USA West division as they take on the UTEP Miners at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. The two rivals will kick things off at 8:00pm ET on ESPN. College Football Picks at Sportsbetting.com have the Miners listed as a +7.5 against the spread home dog.
Tulsa fell to 4-2 last Wednesday with a 21-28 home loss to No. 6 Boise State. The Golden Hurricane took advantage of two
Boise turnovers and put themselves in a position to win late but were unable to get the job done against the Broncos pressuring defense. Todd Graham's squad finished the game with 295 total yards, 12 first downs, and two third down conversions. Quarterback G.J. Kinnie had a nice outing, especially considering the heat Boise put on him (four sacks), completing 14-of-27 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Kinnie connected with wide receiver Slick Shelley three times for 99 yards and one score.
The Golden Hurricane rushing attack, which is averaging 154.7 yards per game this season, managed a meager 88 yards against Chris Petersen's defense. The Tulsa ground game should be a much bigger factor against UTEP, which is allowing 214.7 yards per game on the ground and 491.8 overall.
The Tulsa defense gave up 25 first downs and 380 yards to Boise State's offense, which also held the ball 35:07. The Broncos ground game also produced 193 yards at 4.4 yards per clip.
Despite the loss to Boise, Tulsa enters tomorrow's game sitting in first place in the Conference USA West division with a 2-0 league record.
UTEP followed up their stunning upset of the Houston Cougars with a 20-35 loss to 2-5 Memphis in Tennessee. The Miners produced plenty of offense against the Tigers, amassing 442 total yards and 23 first downs, but they were unable to overcome their own pourous defense and lack of ball security. Mike Price's troops turned the ball over three times, including two interceptions from quarterback Trevor Vittatoe. His defense also yielded 486 yards to Memphis as the Tigers ground game churned out 270 yards (5.5 ypc).
Vittatoe, other than the two picks, had a solid performance, throwing for 319 yards and two touchdowns.
The loss to Memphis dropped UTEP's overall record to 2-4 and their conference record to 1-1. The Miners are in third place in the West division, sitting a game back of Tulsa and SMU.
College Football Picks Betting Trend: The Over is 5-1 in the Miners last six games as a home underdog against a Conference USA foe.
