Nesbitt also completed 4-of-8 passes for 131 yards and a score. Running back Jonathan Dwyer also chipped in with a 14 carry, 102 yard, two touchdown performance. Despite three turnovers, the Yellow Jackets had 25 first downs and held the ball for 32:03.
Georgia Tech's defense, however, had little to brag about, giving up 539 yards to the Seminoles. Florida State had no trouble moving the ball against Paul Johnson's defense as the Seminoles 44 points, 26 first downs, and 10 third down conversions would suggest.
The surprsing Cavaliers have stormed to the top of the division ranks with road wins at North Carolina and Maryland. Al Groh's squad enters Saturday's game riding a three game win streak with a victory over Indiana wedged between the two wins over the aforementioned conference foes.
Last weekend Virginia scored a 20-9 victory over the Terps in College Park, thanks largely to their defense. The Cavs defensive unit, which is yielding just 18.7 points and 293.8 yards per game this season, held Maryland to 284 yards and forced four turnovers. Nate Collins returned one pick 32 yards for a touchdown.
The Cavaliers offense certainly needed the extra possessions, despite doing little with them. Virginia managed a meager 201 yards and nine first downs against Maryland, which is giving up an average of 33.7 points per game this season. Quarterback Jameel Sewell, who left the game with an ankle injury, completed 13-of-23 passes for 137 yards and he rushed 13 times for -33 yards.
