Penn State vs Michigan College Football Picks, College Football Odds & College Football Predictions: The Penn State Nittany Lions have a date with the Michigan Wolverines this weekend at the Big House in Ann Arbor. The Lions, which have not won at Michigan since a 29-17 victory back in November of 1996, will be looking to move to 7-1 while the Wolverines hope to even their conference record at 2-2. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm ET on ABC. College Football Picks at Bodog.com have the Nittany Lions listed as a -4.5 against the spread road favorite.
The No. 13 Lions improved to 6-1 last Saturday with a 20-0 win over Minnesota at Beaver Stadium in Happy Valley. The shutout victory was the third straight win for Joe Paterno's squad since their 10-21 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Penn State had an impressive day offensively, posting 21 first downs, 11 third down conversions, and 464 yards while holding the ball for 41:59. Quarterback Daryll Clark completed 21-of-32 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown and junior tailback Evan Royster carried the ball 23 times for 137 (6.0 ypc).
As good as the Lions offense was, their defense was even better. The Golden Gophers produced just seven first downs, three third down conversions, and 138 yards against Penn State's D. The shut down performance dropped the Lions yards per game allowed average to 238.9, a tally that ranks fifth in the nation.
Michigan, for all practical purposes, had a bye last week, pasting FCS school Delaware State 63-6 at Michigan Stadium. Quarterback Tate Forcier returned to the Wolverines lineup (suffered concussion against Iowa on October 10th), but he threw just two passes. Forcier is fully healthy heading into this weekend's meeting with Penn State and will start against the Nittany Lions.
Prior to their slaughter of Delaware State, Michigan had dropped back-to-back conference road games, losing at Michigan State and at Iowa. The Wolverines, which are currently seventh in the Big Ten standings, desperately need a win on Satruday to stay in the conference race. With games against Wisconsin and Ohio State still on the docket, Rich Rodriquez' squad cannot afford to fall to 1-3 league play.
College Football Picks Betting Trend: Penn State is 7-1-2 against the spread and 10-0 straight up in their last 10 games as a road favorite in the month of October.
Penn State Nittany Lions -4.5
Michigan Wolverines +4.5
