South Florida's offense played satisfactory in the loss, despite quarterback B.J. Daniels second two pick game of the season. Aside from the interceptions, Daniels completed 15-of-32 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed the ball 16 times for 74 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers ran their record to 6-1 last Saturday, winning their third straight conference game. Pitt took out the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 24-17 in Piscataway, New Jersey behind the strength of a dominating defensive performance. The Knights managed just 286 total yards, 16 first downs, and 1.9 yards per carry. Rutgers inability to run the ball led to a 6:32 time of possession advantage for the Panthers.
Pittsburgh's offense racked up 21 first downs, 376 yards, and 10 third down conversions against Rutgers. Quarterback Bill Stull completed 16-of-24 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown, but the real star for the Panthers was freshman running back Dion Lewis. Lewis carried the ball 31 times for 180 yards and two touchdowns. The Albany, New York native, who has nine touchdowns on the season, now ranks second in the nation in rush yards with a total of 918.
