Nebraska vs Oklahoma State 2010 College Football Picks, 2010 College Football Predictions & 2010 College Football Odds: The Nebraska Cornhuskers, coming off their first loss of the season, will be in Stillwater, Oklahoma tomorrow to face the No. 14 Cowboys at Boone Pickens Stadium. Saturday's Big 12 clash between the Huskers and Pokes is scheduled to get underway at 3:30pm ET on ABC. 2010 College Football Picks, Predictions & Odds at online sportsbook BetUS.com have Nebraska listed as a -6 against the spread road favorite; the game total is set at 60.
Nebraksa had revenge on its mind last Saturday in Lincoln, but its opposition, the Texas Longhorns, were focused on an
upset and that is exactly what they got. Mack Brown's squad, a +9.5 dog going into the game, dropped the Huskers to 5-1 after posting a 20-13 win at Memorial Stadium.
Nebraska looked a little over-zealous in seeking to make amends for last season's narrow loss to Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game. The Cornhuskers dropped at least two would be scoring passes, and managed just one touchdown for the game (a 95 yard fourth quarter punt return).
The Longhorns, without the fear of passing attack, shut down Taylor Martinez and Huskers vaunted ground game, holding the freshman quarterback to 21 rush yards on 13 carries. Martinez came into the contest averaging 10.8 yards per carry and 147 rush yards per game.
Oklahoma State, one of the biggest surprises in college football this season, improved to 6-0 last weekend with a 34-17 win at Texas Tech. The victory led to a No. 14 debut for the Cowboys in the opening BCS standings earlier this week.
The Pokes offense, as it has done all season, churned out the yardage, posting 581 against the Red Raiders defense, despite turning the ball over two times. Quarterback Brandon Weeden, whose 19 touchdown passes ranks third in the FBS, threw for 356 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The Cowboys rushing attack, led by senior Kendall Hunter (25 carries, 130 yards, one touchdown), accounted for 225 yards on 48 carries.
Oklahoma State's defense, which is yielding an average of 27.2 points per game, gave up 401 total yards and 175 rush yards to Texas Tech.
The Cowboys have won three of the last four in this North versus South series, including a 45-14 victory the last time they played the Huskers in 2007. Despite that recent trend, tomorrow will represent OSU's most difficult challenge to date as its suspect rush defense attempts to contain, arguably, the nation's most lethal ground threat in Martinez.
College Football Predictions Betting Trend: The Over is 6-1 in Oklahoma State's last seven games as a home dog with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
