College Football Odds 2011 Week 9

by Matt Foust on Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

College Football Odds 2011 Week 9: Odds makers caught up to the top 10 last week, but not enough to hand the nation's best a losing record. The AP's top ranked teams went a collective 6-4 against the spread to give them a 22-6 mark over the last three weeks of the college football season. No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama are out of action this Saturday as they prepare for a showdown in Tuscaloosa next weekend, but a number of highly regarded teams could be in trouble this week. Oklahoma State, Stanford, Clemson, Michigan State, and Kansas State all face difficult challenges, increasing the prospects of a rare losing weekend for the country's best teams.

Baylor Bears vs No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys (-14): Baylor has its best football team in years, but the Bears are still a College Football Odds 2011 Week 9step below the Cowboys. Perhaps the biggest evidence of that came two Saturdays ago when the Aggies, a team OSU beat 30-29 at Kyle Field, thumped the Bears 55-28. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have hardly been challenged, with the exception of the A&M game. Oklahoma State has won its seven games by an average of 21.3 points per game and it ranks second in the nation in scoring (48.6). Baylor may present more of a challenge this year, but the Pokes five game win streak over the Bears is hardly in jeopardy.

No. 4 Stanford Cardinal vs No. 20 USC (+7.5): USC stunned a number of fans and punduts alike with its 31-17 win at Notre Dame on Saturday. The Trojans brought an impressive 5-1 record to South Bend, but nothing about their performance through six weeks suggested they would be able to keep up with an Irish team that appeared to be improving every week. Now a much bigger test comes this weekend in the form of Stanford, a team that has won and covered in every game this season. Unlike the Irish, the Cardinal are anything but self-destructive as they typically make their opposition look lumbering and inept. Stanford's death by a thousand cuts approach will come through once again this weekend. Get $50 in Free CFB Picks Here.
