College Football Odds Week 9: The college football season will take on a decidedly post-season feel this weekend as several critical conference battles are scheduled for Saturday. Among the biggest match ups are contests between USC and Oregon, Texas and Oklahoma State, and Georgia and Florida. For the latest lines on these important games and the full slate of College Football Odds Week 9 visit Bookmaker.com today.
No. 4 USC vs No. 10 Oregon (+3): This game will, most likely, decide the Pac-10 winner as Oregon is presently in first place
with a 4-0 conference record and USC is just a game back at 3-1. Arizona (3-1) could be a factor, but the Wildcats still have games against California, USC, and Oregon on their schedule.
Southern Cal has gotten the better of this match up in recent years, winning four of the last five games by an average of 25.5 points. However, the Ducks have been rolling of late, winning their last four games by an average of 30.8 points per game. Last week they pasted Washington 43-19 in Seattle, the same place USC fell 13-16 earlier this season.
The Trojans offense has really started to click lately as USC has scored 30 or more points in their last three games. However, their vaunted defense has given up 63 points in their last two contests. If Oregon can establish the run, which they have done against every team they have faced except Boise St., the Ducks will be in this game to win it.
No. 3 Texas vs No. 15 Oklahoma State (+9.5): Another game that could well decide the conference as the Cowboys look to be the only real threat to Texas in either the North or the South. That said, the Pokes have been anything but a hazard to the Longhorns over the last decade or more, going 12-1 in their last 13 meetings with Texas. Oklahoma State's lone victory in that strecth did come in Stillwater, but that was way back in October of 1997.
The Longhorns, despite getting jumped in the rankings by Alabama a few weeks back, have had little difficulty dispatching their recent competition, with the exception of Oklahoma. Mack Brown has, no doubt, hammered home that this contest is probably for all the marbles in the Big 12 South. So, the Cowboys should get the Horns best shot.
