2010 College Football Week 9 Odds: The race is on from here on out and it's serious business for teams like Auburn, Oregon, Boise State, TCU, Michigan State, and Missouri, which currently comprise the top six in the BCS standings. Three of those six squads face big hurdles this weekend as Oregon takes on USC at the Coliseum, Michigan State meets Iowa at Kinnick Stadium, and Missouri squares off against Nebraska in Lincoln. 2010 College Football Week 9 Odds at Sportsbook.com have Michigan State and Missouri both listed as against the spread dogs (+6.5 and +7.5 respectively) while Oregon is a -7 road favorite against the Trojans.
Michigan State Spartans vs Iowa Hawkeyes (-6.5): Michigan State survived a major trap game last weekend at Northwestern,
winning 35-27 after a 21 point fourth quarter rally. This weekend's meeting with the Hawkeyes is no trap, it is more comparable to war zone, especially given Iowa's gut-wrenching loss to Wisconsin on Saturday. With two losses, the Hawkeyes season is on the verge of spiraling out of control, which means they will be more than ready for the Spartans. However, after the close call against the Wildcats, Michigan State should also be well prepared. And if that were not enough to get the Spartans attention, maybe the fact that they have lost five in a row at Kinnick Stadium is.
Missouri Tigers vs Nebraska Cornhuskers (-7.5): The Cornhuskers rebounded from their home debacle against the Longhorns with a 51-41 win over No. 14 Oklahoma State on Saturday. Taylor Martinez, who was limited to 84 total yards against Texas, returned with a vengence against the Cowboys, throwing for 323 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 119 yards on 19 carries. He will need a similar effort this weekend to get past a Missouri squad that is 7-0 and in the Big 12 North driver's seat after upsetting Oklahoma 36-27 over the weekend. The Tigers offense may be a shade below Oklahoma State's unit, but it is averaging 34.7 points per game. There is no comparison, however, between Missouri's defense and the Cowboys as the Tigers are holding their opposition to an average of 13.1 points per game while OSU has yielded 30.6 points per game this season.
