Free College Football Picks Week 9

by Alexander Banks on Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Free College Football PicksMy friend and colleague, online college football handicapping guru Reno Goldberg dropped by my office last night [Friday] with a list of what he called “good betting games” for college football’s week-9 Saturday. While much attention is paid to big matchups with BCS implications, they are not always the best bets. As Goldberg said, “Out of up to 50 games listed on the online betting board, there are only a handful of block-buster games that are worth betting on while there are a dozen or so other games that with a little research have very good wagering value.”

Of course Goldberg and his team don’t want to give away the farm because it takes away from his College Football Picks service, but he did offer a few free picks for our readership.

“Has anyone noticed that Kansas has quietly gone undefeated through seven games? And better yet, the Jayhawks are 6-0 against the spread,” said Goldberg. So why is nobody talking about the Jayhawks? They have been rolling all opposition both on the road and at home and their wagering backers are laughing all the way to the bank.”

The Jayhawks, 9th in this weeks BCS poll are ranked below five other teams with a loss. “The No. 13 Missouri Tigers at 6-1 are getting more media buzz than Kansas,” said Goldberg.

On Saturday, Kansas travels to College Station, Texas, installed by oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com as a -3.0 favorite.

“I like KU by -3,” said Goldberg. “Winning on the road hasn’t been a problem for them, including their win and cover at Colorado last week-end. I don’t give the Aggies much of a chance against Chuck Mangino’s Jayhawks.

The second game on Goldberg’s list is Tulsa giving -14 (SBGglobal.com) to SMU in a 3 p.m. ET game at home in Skelly Stadium.

“Honestly, this game will not be close. Tulsa is a much better team than SMU, especially on offense,” Goldberg said. “Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn has Tulsa running his spread no-huddle offense to near perfection and scoring lots of points.”

“One thing I like about SMU,” Goldberg continued. “They are consistent losers both at 1-6 SU and ATS. Gamblers look for teams like this because they know they can wager the opposition and cash some chips.”

“Speaking about consistent losers how about North Texas,” said Goldberg. “While going a pathetic 1-6 SU, they are 2-5 ATS. Saturday they get Middle Tennessee at home and will lose big.”

The Blue Raiders are currently giving -13 ½ points as road favorites according to oddsmakers at Bodog(Bodoglife.com) .

Goldberg said he would drop by next week with a few more free picks.
