Florida State vs North Carolina State 2010 College Football Picks, 2010 College Football Odds & 2010 College Football Predictions: Florida State will look to continue its climb back up the standings tomorrow when it takes on ACC Atlantic rival North Carolina State in Raleigh. The game between the Seminoles and Wolfpack is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30pm ET at Carter-Finley Stadium; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. 2010 College Football Picks, Odds & Predictions at Sportsbook.com have the Seminoles listed as a -3.5 against the spread road favorite and the game total set at 57.5.
Since its 47-17 week two beating at Oklahoma, Florida State has been unstoppable. The Seminoles improved their
record to 6-1 two Saturdays ago with a 24-19 win over Boston College. The victory was their fifth straight and it came on the heels of conference wins over Wake Forest (31-0), Virginia (34-14), and Miami (45-17).
Quarterback Christian Ponder, who looked miserable in the 'Noles loss to the Sooners, has played well, with the exception of the BC game (170 yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions), during the team's win streak. In the four games prior to the win over the Eagles, Ponder threw a combined six touchdowns to just one interception in route to a 136.4 passer rating.
The biggest difference this season for FSU, though, is the play of its defense. Last season the Seminoles were dreadful, giving up an average of 434.5 yards and 30 points per game. Coming into tomorrow's meeting with the Wolfpack, Jimbo Fisher's squad is allowing a meager 16.1 points and 308.1 yards per contest.
North Carolina State, which is presently tied with Maryland for second place in the Atlantic (2-1 Conference, 5-2 Overall), may represent the biggest threat to Florida State in the division. The Wolfpack have lost two of their last three games; however, their offense is more than capable of putting together a big day.
Russell Wilson is a proven playmaker under center and his recent ball security issues (nine interceptions in the last four games) run counter to the control he has exercised throughout his collegiate career. The fact that Wilson threw just 12 interceptions over the past two seasons would indicate that he will put the turnover woes behind him.
Despite Wilson's erratic play, NC State has averaged 36.5 points per game in its last four outings.
Florida State has won three in a row in this series and five of the last seven; however, the Seminoles are 1-8-1 against the spread in their last 10 games against the Wolfpack.
College Football Predictions Betting Trend: The Over is 8-1 in NC State's last nine games as a home dog in the month of October.
Florida State Seminoles -3.5 (-110), Over 57.5 (-110), -170 (Moneyline)
North Carolina Wolfpack +3.5 (-110), Under 57.5 (-110), +150 (Moneyline)
