North Carolina vs Virginia Tech College Football Odds, College Football Picks & College Football Predictions: ACC rivals North Carolina and Virginia Tech will meet tonight at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Hokies, which are currently second in the Coastal division, need a win to keep pace with Georgia Tech while the Tar Heels just need a conference win. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm ET on ESPN. North Carolina lost for the third time in its last four games last Thursday, falling at home to Florida State 27-30. Virginia Tech fell to 5-2 on October 17th, losing 23-28 to Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The defeat was the first in conference play for the Hokies, which now stand at 3-1 in ACC play. Tech could do nothing to slow down the Yellow Jackets rushing attack, which racked up 309 yards and four touchdowns. The Hokies defense also had trouble getting Georgia Tech off the field on third down as Paul Johnson's troops converted 8-of-14 third downs against them. The edge the Yellow Jackets gained in those two areas led to a decisive 38:22 to 21:38 time of possession advantage. Virginia Tech's offense did farely well in the short amount of time that it had the ball, amassing 334 yards, 175 of which came on the ground. Running back Ryan Williams continued his spectacular freshman season, carrying the 14 times for 100 yards. It was Williams fifth 100 plus yard game of the year and he enters tonight's game with UNC with 834 rush yards (6.0 ypc) and 10 rushing touchdowns. Heels led 24-6 early in the third quarter but their top ranked pass defense did anything but control the Seminoles in the second half.
