Sophomore signal caller Darron Thomas completed 22-of-31 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the blowout win. Running back LaMichael James, who ranks first in the nation in rush yards per game (161.8), carried the ball 20 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
Oregon, which sits atop the Pac 10 standings with a 4-0 conference record (Arizona State, Stanford, Washington State, and UCLA), produced 270 rush yards and five rushing touchdowns against UCLA.
USC rebounded from two difficult losses (Washington 32-31, Stanford 37-35) with a 48-14 thrashing of Cal at the Coliseum. The Trojans high-powered offense racked up 602 total yards as Matt Barkley completed 25-of-37 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns. USC, which comes into tomorrow's game with a 5-2 overall record and a 2-2 conference tally, also had its way on the ground, finishing the game with 211 rush yards on 36 carries.
The most surprising aspect of the victory, though, was the performance of Monte Kiffin's defense. The Trojans have not played well defensively this season, giving up an average of 24.3 points and 402.4 yards per game; however, they turned it up a notch against the Bears. Cal managed just 10 first downs and 245 yards for the game.
Southern Cal has four of the last six in this rivalry series, but the Ducks have taken two of the last three, including last season's 47-20 pasting in Eugene.
College Football Predictions Betting Trend: The Ducks are 2-5 against the spread but 6-1 straight up in their last seven games as a road favorite versus a Pac 10 team with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
