Texas vs Texas Tech Betting Odds

by Matt Foust on Friday, October 31st, 2008

The Texas Longhorns will get their fourth big test in as many weeks when they face another top 10 conference foe this weekend. Texas will kick things off with seventh ranked Texas Tech this Saturday at 8:00pm ET in Lubbock in a prime time ABC showdown. College football betting odds at Sportsbook.com are favoring the Longhorns -4 on the road.Texas vs Texas Tech Betting Odds

Tomorrow's game with the Red Raiders would appear to be the final leg of a grueling gauntlet for Mack Brown and his Longhorns. Despite the difficult stretch, Texas has shown no signs of cracking. Last week's scrape with Oklahoma State was their closest call this season (28-24), but they still bested the Cowboys by 88 yards, holding the ball nearly five minutes longer despite having two turnovers to OSU's one.

Texas Tech will certainly present a unique challenge with their quick scoring offense, but the Longhorns have just faced three of the best offenses in college football in Oklahoma, Missouri, and the aforementioned Cowboys. So, they should be prepared for whatever Mike Leach has in store for them.

For Texas Tech, this game is quite possibly the biggest in the school's history. A victory puts the Red Raiders in the driver's seat in the Big 12 South and in line for a shot at the national championship. Granted, they still have some major work ahead of them with the Sooners and the Pokes remaining on the schedule, but the significance of those contests drops with a loss to Texas.

This highly anticipated game could also have implications on the Heisman race as Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and the Red Raiders Graham Harrell are both in the running for the coveted trophy.

College Football Betting Trend:   The Over is 5-1 in the last six games between the Longhorns and Red Raiders in Lubbock.

Sportsbook.com's Texas vs Texas Tech Betting Odds:

Texas Longhorns -4 (-110), Over 75.5 (-110), -165 (Money line)
