Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech 2010 College Football Picks, Predictions & Odds

by Matt Foust on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech 2010 College Football Picks, 2010 College Football Predictions & 2010 College Football Odds: The top two teams in ACC Coastal Division are set to do battle tomorrow evening as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets roll into Blacksburg, Virginia to face the 6-2 Hokies. The rivalry tilt is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30pm ET at Lane Stadium; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. 2010 College Football Picks, Predictions & Odds at SBGglobal.com have Virginia Tech listed as a -12.5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 56.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have failed, at least through eight games, to match their play from last year's ACC title Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech 2010 College Football Picks, Predictions & Oddswinning season; however, Paul Johnson's squad is still in the mix this year with a 5-3 overall record and 3-2 record in league play. A win tomorrow night against the Hokies may be just what this team needs to get and sustain some momentum.

The Yellow Jackets had reeled off three straight wins prior an October 23rd game at Clemson where they lost 27-13 to the Tigers. The rushing attack produced, as it usually does, accounting for 242 of the team's 325 total yards, but the defense failed to slow Clemson's ground game. The Tigers finished the night with 236 yards on 38 carries for a 6.2 yards per carry average.

Georgia Tech's defensive effort against Clemson had to give Johnson pause as he prepares to stop a Hokies team that has won six row by an average of 24 points per game. And while Virginia Tech's defense was solid in those games, it was the offense that really spurred the streak.

The Hokies have scored 40 or more points in their last four games and they have averaged 41.6 points per game in their last six contests. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who ranks fourth in the nation in passer rating (171.14), has been remarkable of late, throwing 10 touchdown passes to one interception in Tech's last four outings. He also rushed for 326 yards and three touchdowns in those contests, three of which were against ACC competition.

The Hokies have won four of the last six meeting between these two schools, but they did fall 28-23 to the Yellow Jackets last year in Atlanta.

College Football Predictions Betting Trend: Virginia Tech is 9-1 against the spread and 10-0 straight up in its last 10 games as a home favorite with a total of 54.5 or more.
