2010 College Football Week 10 Picks: I can't believe it -2010 College Football week 10 already? By this time of the campaign, we should have a pretty good idea of what schools are going places and what schools aren't. And there are those few teetering on the edge. This is also the best time to make picks and pick up a few dollars. There are several games this week that have caught my interest; some ranked matchups as well as what I call, under the radar games.
The best matchup between ranked schools is No. 3 (BCS) TCU visting No. 5 Utah in Salt Lake City. This game will not only determine the front runner in the Mountain West Conference, but could produce the first non-BCS participant in the 2011 BCS Championship Game. BetUS.com has the Horned Frogs as 4 1/2-chalk road favorites in this one. Unfortunately, for this game, the biggest loser is the viewing public as it's televised on CBSC, a network few cable companies carry. I'm picking TCU, giving the 4 1/2-chalk.
Alabama, the highest ranked team in the BCS Standings at No. 6, travels to play 10 LSU at Death Valley down in Baton Rouge. The Crimson Tide still have a solid chance of representing the SEC Western Division in the SEC title game if they win their remaining conference games, which includes a home date with No. 2 Auburn in the Iron Bowl, Fri. Nov. 26. BetUS lists Alabama as a 6 1/2-chalk road favorite in this one with a 44 1/2 total. I think betting the UNDER, on the 44 1/2 total is the best play.
There should be plenty of fireworks when No. 18 Arkansas travels to play South Carolina at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia. If the Gamecocks can pull off a win here, they will clinch at least a share of the SEC Eastern Division before playing Florida in a showdown next week. BetUS.com lists South Carolina as a 4-chalk favorite in this one with a 59 total. I can't believe the total is below 70 points for this game. I see an all out shootout in this game. These two teams could hit the posted 59 by halftime. I'm taking the OVER again.
No. 2(AP)/4(BCS) Boise State, isn't challenged often but will face its stiffest test since the season opener with Virginia Tech when it hosts Hawaii, on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium. This game, to be televised on ESPNU (3:30 PM ET) is being billed as the WAC Championship game. Though unranked, the Warriors are on the cusp of both AP and Coaches polls as the team getting the most votes that's not currently ranked. BetUS.com lists BSU as 21-chalk favorites with a 66 total. While betting the total is tempting to me, I am picking Hawaii to cover +21. These Warriors, sporting the No. 1 passing offense in the nation will challenge the Broncos' secondary.
