Boise State at Louisiana Tech - College Football Picks: No. 5 (AP)/7(BCS) ranked Boise State Broncos travel to Ruston, Louisiana to play the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in a Western Athletic Conference football game Friday night at Joe Aillet Stadium. Kick-off time for this ESPN2 televised game is set for 8 pm ET. College football picks oddsmakers at SPORTSBETTING.COM list Boise State as 21-chalk favorites with a 50 1/2 total. The Boise State Broncos are like the kid in school who always does the right thing, brings home straight-A's, is the teachers pet and who all the girls want to be seen with. The Bronco's are an amazing entity. So amazing in fact that they are almost irritating. Sort of like BYU was in the 70's and 80's when Sports Illustrated labeled the Cougars as the most hated team in America. The Bronco's haven't achieved that level of disgust among America's college football fans but close. There isn't a college football team in America BCS backers want to see lose more than the Broncos. However, if you're a gambler - the Bronco's are your baby. Why? Because they do the right thing. They win their games and almost always cover the betting spread. They are consistent and consistency is cash. The Bronco's are 8-0 SU and 6-1 covering the spread for best in the nation. While a couple of schools have a better ATS percentage - Stanford and Troy - they have only played four board lined games where the Broncos have played seven. Just in case you haven't noticed, Boise State is the only blemish on Oregon's record right now, the team who handed the mighty USC Trojans the beat-down of their lives in week 9 and appear to be running away with the PAC 10 title. Friday's opponent, Louisiana Tech, is a nice little WAC team but that's all they are. Unfortunately the WAC is where Boise State lives and they must play the - ho-hum - WAC schedule. Traveling to play the Bulldogs is not the easiest thing to do for any team. The Bulldogs play well at home and are currently 3-0 SU/2-0 ATS on their own campus. Of course that is against (FCS) Nicholls State, Hawaii and New Mexico State. The Bulldogs are 0-5 SU on the road with losses at Auburn, Navy, Nevada, Utah State and Idaho and are 1-4 ATS in those games. Boise State has enjoyed plenty of success over the past decade but Ruston has been a difficult stop for the team. The Broncos lost there in 2001, squeaked by the Dogs in 2003, had to come from behind to win in 2005 and gave up over 400 yards in a close call in 2007. It's difficult to pick against Boise State but this writer believes the Broncos are over-lined in this one. Giving 21-points on the road at a difficult venue is hard to cover for any team. Boise State will win SU but Tech should cover +21. Cash in with sign-up bonuses, weekly reload bonuses and free payouts at SPORTSBETTING.com, where betting is safe, secure and easy. |
