Florida at Vanderbilt 2010 College Football Predictions

by Reno Gold on Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Florida at Vanderbilt 2010 College Football Predictions: The Florida Gators (5-3), who in spite of three SEC conference losses, will play in the SEC championship game if they can win their remaining league games. Of course that includes defeating SEC East leader South Carolina, but that game is a week away. Today (Nov. 6), the Gators will turn their focus to Vanderbilt as they travel to play the Commodores in an early afternoon game (12:20, SEC/ESPN-GP) in Nashville, Tenn. Vanderbilt (2-6, 1-4 SEC) has lost three straight games but has the potential to beat Florida if the Gators are caught looking ahead.

Florida at Vanderbilt 2010 College Football PredictionsThe Gators are listed as 14 1/2-chalk favorites versus Vandy on the Sportsbook.com college football board with a posted total of 46 points. Commodores' backers are getting +425 odds on the Sportsbook moneyline while Florida is giving -550.

The Commodores have lost three straight games and are coming off a disastrous trip to Arkansas (Oct. 30) where they lost 49-14. In that game, Arkansas' Ryan Mallett torched the proud Vanderbilt secondary for over 400 yards. The Hogs racked up well over 500 yards total offense in the game. This came against a Vanderbilt defense that has held its own this season. Vandy failed to cover as a 20-point road dog while the total flew over the posted 59 points.

The Gators are coming off a 34-31 win over arch-rival Georgia in their annual cock-tail party game at the Gator Bowl Stadium in Jacksonville. The Gators covered the 1-point spread as favorites, while the 65 combined points scored went OVER the posted total.

Reno Gold's Prediction: This game has all the makings of a trap for Florida. The Gators, fresh off an emotional victory over Georgia could be caught looking ahead to their game with the Ol' Ball Coach and South Carolina next week. The weather will not be favorable, as the temperture will be in the 30's. I expect Vandy to pull out all the stops and play Florida tough. Take Vanderbilt +14 1/2 as a home dog.
