Nevada Wolf Pack at Fresno State Bulldogs College Football Pick: Betting line-Nevada -2 (Total 70 1/2); Kickoff 9:00 p.m.; Television-ESPN2; Fresno State-Bulldog Stadium, Fresno, Calif: Betting odds provided by BetUS.com.
The Fresno State Bulldogs (5-3, 2-2 WAC) and Nevada Wolf Pack (4-4, 2-2) of the WAC will play in an ESPN2 televised game Friday night. While neither team is eliminated numerically from the conference race, their chances of winning are minimal, however; both Fresno State and Nevada are seeking bowl berths and with four games remaining have solid chances of qualifying for the post-season.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook BetUS.com have installed the Wolf Pack as -1 chalk favorites and -130 money line with a 70 1/2 total. Bulldogs backers are getting +110 money line odds as a home underdog.
Things haven't worked out for the Fresno State Bulldogs football team the way they were supposed to. Entering the season, expectations were so high that oddsmakers handicapped the Bulldogs as the top non-BCS team to have a chance of breaking into the BCS mix. The Bulldogs threw gas on the fire on opening day (Sep.1) when they trounced what was then considered a respectable Rutgers Scarlet Knights team 24-7 on the road. Considered underdogs, Fresno State easily covered the +3 1/2 chalk ATS with the SU win. Following the win, Fresno State climbed to No. 21 in the AP Poll.
The Bulldogs followed the Rutgers win with a respectable showing at home against Wisconsin but losing in a close game 13-10. Fresno State followed with two difficult road wins at Toledo and UCLA but returned home only to lose their WAC opener to Hawaii 29-32 as a -22 chalk favorite. The Bulldogs put together back to back wins over league weaklings Idaho and Utah State to close out October but stumbled on the road at Louisiana Tech last week losing SU 35-38.
Since that opening day SU win and cover at Rutgers, the Bulldogs have been the worst in the country covering the betting line going 0-7 ATS.
Overall, Fresno State is 5-3 SU and 1-6 ATS. Their 2-2 conference mark has them tied for third in the WAC. To win the league, the Bulldogs need plenty of help from above and take care of business which includes winning out.
With four games to go this season, Fresno State needs one win to become bowl eligible and two wins to be guaranteed of a bowl bid.
With four wins and four games to go, Nevada needs a minimum of two wins to seal a bowl bid making tonights game even more crucial. Especially with one of the remaining games against No. 10 Boise State.
