Georgia vs Auburn 2010 College Football Odds, 2010 College Football Predictions & 2010 College Football Picks: Auburn, which has received the kind of scrutiny programs abhor over the past two weeks, will look to wrap up the SEC West title tomorrow afternoon when it hosts Georgia at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The rivalry tilt is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30pm ET on CBS. 2010 College Football Odds, Predictions & Picks at online bookmaker BetUS.com have the Tigers listed as a -7.5 against the spread home favorite; the game total is presently set at 65.
Auburn (10-0, No. 2 in the BCS Standings) comes into Saturday's game with an abundance of questions swirling around its
star quarterback, Cam Newton. Newton's father has been accused by Mississippi State recruiters of wanting a pay for play type scenario for his son after Cam had been dismissed from Florida.
The allegations are currently at an unproven he said, he said juncture. Auburn has been accused of no wrong doing; however, should the charges being hurled Newton's way prove accurate, the Heisman candidate may find himself ineligible to play for the Tigers.
So, Newton and his teammates must move beyond the circus of the past week and focus on a Bulldogs squad that has won four of its last five games. They had no trouble sweeping things aside last weekend, but FCS school Chattanooga (64-24) posed no threat to Auburn even if Newton had not suited up.
Georgia, though, is a dangerous squad right now with an opportunity to finish strong and secure its 10th consecutive bowl game under Head Coach Mark Richt. The Bulldogs, like the Tigers, are coming off a beatdown of an FCS program (Idaho State 55-7), but prior to that they thrashed Tennessee, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt by a combined 83 points before falling 31-34 to Florida on October 30th.
Newton, who has thrown for 1890 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 1146 yards and 15 scores, is still in the driver's seat for the Heisman. More importantly, though, his team still has a chance to win an SEC title and, possibly, make an appearance in the BCS National Championship on January 10th.
Indeed, much is on the line tomorrow afternoon for the Tigers, meaning a clear conscience will be key for their suddenly beleaguered signal caller.
College Football Predictions Betting Trend: Auburn is 7-3 against the spread and 8-2 straight up in its last 10 games as a home favorite versus an SEC opponent with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
