"When you have success, the next opportunity you can lose that and you've got to be smart enough to know what it takes to continue to try and improve and perform well," Saban said.
The Crimson Tide, which is 3-0 on the road this year, still have their sights set on bigger things, such as a trip to the BCS Championship in Pasadena, California. That, combined with the fact that Alabama has dropped two of their last three games against Mississippi State, probably assured Saban's message sinking in.
"We've got to keep pushing," linebacker Rolando McClain said. "Even though we've clinched the West, we've still got a lot to prove. I think it's still stuck in our minds when we lost to (the Bulldogs) two years ago."
Mississippi State comes into this contest with a 4-5 record and a fifth place position in the SEC West division, but they have been competitive all year long. The Bulldogs also have something at stake as well, as they could become bowl eligible by winning the remainder of their games.
The Bulldogs, however, are just 1-4 at Davis Wade Stadium this season, despite averaging 29 points per game there.
