Utah at Notre Dame 2010 College Football Predictions: The No. 14 Utah Utes will step out of Mountain West Conference play today in order to travel to South Bend, Indiana to play the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (2:30 pm ET, NBC). The Irish have struggled this season under new head coach Brian Kelly with a 4-5 record, needing two more wins to get bowl qualified. Notre Dame is coming off a much needed bye week so they can get over trajedy both on and off the field. Meanwhile Utah (8-1) was stung 47-7 at home by TCU, so the Utes will be looking to get a win to clear out the bad taste of losing badly to the Horned Frogs.
Sportsbook.com, and most other online sports betting sites, list the Utes as 6-chalk favorites versus the Irish with a 53 1/2 total. Bettors will be able to line shop by going to our (Point-Spreads.com) best lines page by following this link.
Kelly's spread offense offense will take on a new leader for today's game as true freshman Tommy Rees is expected to be taking snaps as the game starter. At 6'2",210-pounds, Rees has all the tools needed make the offense work. Rees most recently attempted 54 passes, completing 33 of them after coming off the bench in Notre Dame's 28-27 loss to Tulsa on October 30. We expect Kelly will simplify Rees' work load significantly for today's game. Nothing much will change for Utah as they seek redemption following last week blowout loss to TCU.
Reno Gold's pick: With all the injuries that Notre Dame has endured, I don't look for any revival from them today. Utah should and will win this game by at least a touchdown or more.
