No. 16 Virginia Tech comes into tomorrow's big game having won eight straight, the latest being a 
26-10 beatdown of the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. The Hokies offense produced 19 first downs and 418 total yards in the victory after quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Tech's dynamic running back duo of Darren Evans and Ryan Williams combined for 173 rush yards on 29 carries.
The Hokies, which are 8-2 overall and 6-0 in ACC action, will match their rushing strength (19th in the FBS at 208.6 yards per game on the ground) against the Hurricanes weak rush defense. While Miami ranks 19th in the nation in yards per game allowed (314.3), it gives up an average of 166.4 rush yards per game, which ranks 77th among FBS competition.
Miami, which stands at 7-3 after back to back wins against Maryland and Georgia Tech, will look to its 44th ranked passing attack to keep its slim ACC Coastal division title hopes alive (5-2 conference play, second place in the Coastal division).
Freshman quarterback Stephen Morris, who will make his second consecutive start in place of the injured Jacory Harris (concussion), will attempt to exploit a Hokies defense that is allowing an average of 206.5 pass yards per contest (70th FBS).
Morris has thrown for 678 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions in relief of Harris, but he had his best outing in last weekend's 35-10 win against the Yellow Jackets. Morris threw for 230 yards and one touchdown for a 181.22 passer rating.
The Hokies have won five of the last seven in this series, including a 31-7 victory last year in Blacksburg. Miami did beat Virginia Tech 16-14 the last time the two schools met in Florida, but the Hokies won two in a row prior to that and they are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven away games against the Hurricanes.
