College Football Betting Odds Week 12

by Reno Gold on Saturday, November 20th, 2010

College Football Betting Odds Week 12: No changes at the top of the BCS standings again last week, as all four remaining unbeatens stayed that way. And that looks likely to be the case this week, as three of the top four teams – No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Auburn, and No. 3 TCU – all have the weekend off. No. 4 Boise State (11-0) remained unbeaten by pounding WAC rival Fresno State 51-0 Friday night. The Broncos cashed in that game as 30 1/2-point favorites.

Many games this weekend are part of races for conference championships. So here's a quick look at some of the upcoming college football happenings, and some betting numbers numbers.

The key game in the Big East this week takes place in Tampa, when Pittsburgh, the conference leader at 3-1, visits South Florida, which sits a half-game back (Noon ET, ESPN2). As of Saturday morning BetUS.com is listing the Panthers as 3-point road favorites.

In the Big 10 three teams, each with one conference loss, are in the running for a berth in the Rose Bowl and maybe even a BCS bid. Michigan State, 9-1 overall, is a 20 1/2-point home favorite over 4-6 Purdue (Noon, BTN); BCS No. 7 Wisconsin, also 9-1, is a 5-point road favorite at 7-3 Michigan (Noon, ESPN); and BCS No. 9 Ohio State, also 9-1, is 3-point road chalk at 7-3 Iowa (3:30 pm, ABC).

In the Big 12 Oklahoma State, with a one-game lead in the South Division, is favored by 24 points at 3-7 Kansas (Noon, FSN). Missouri, a game back of Nebraska in the North Division, is favored by 11 1/2 points at 5-6 Iowa State (7:00 pm, FSN); Oklahoma, a game behind OSU in the South, is a 7 1/2-point favorite at 7-4 Baylor (8 pm, ESPN2); and the Huskers, who with a win can clinch a berth in the conference championship game, are 3-point favorites at 7-3 Texas A&M (8 pm, ABC/ESPN).

In the ACC, Virginia Tech, one win away from clinching a berth in the conference championship game, is favored by two points at 7-3 Miami (3:30 pm, ABC/ESPN). And Florida State, a half-game up on North Carolina State and Maryland in the Atlantic Division, is a 4-point favorite on the road over the 7-3 Terps (8 pm, ABC/ESPN).

A couple of games Saturday take place at unusual venues. At a cramped Wrigley Field 7-3 Northwestern, now without playmaking QB Dan Persa, is a 7 1/2-point underdog vs. 5-5 Illinois (3:30 pm, ESPNU). And Army, at 6-4 and trying to lock down its first bowl bid since 1996, is getting eight points from 5-5 Notre Dame at the new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx (7 pm, NBC).

In The Big Game out west, 9-1 Stanford, No. 6 in the BCS rankings, is favored by 6 1/2 points at 5-5 Cal (3:30, FSN).
