Ohio State vs. Michigan College Football Picks: I've been following college football for well over 40 years and can't remember when the Michigan/Ohio State football game was as insignificant as today's game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor (12:00 pm ET, ABC).
The Buckeyes, already having clinched the BIG TEN championship, are guaranteed a Rose Bowl spot in Pasadena, Calif., on New Years Day. Oh sure the season could have been a little better but at least the Buckeyes will be playing in January. Michigan's story is totally different. The Wolverines started out ok winning their first four games including an impressive 38-34 win over Notre Dame. That was when folks thought the Irish were pretty good. Michigan finished September only two games shy of getting bowl qualified. So who would have thought nearly two months later, Michigan would still be looking for that elusive bowl qualifying sixth win.
Other than defeating their arch rival from a couple hundred miles to the south, getting that sixth win is vital to Michigan if they want to go bowling. Unfortunately they must get it by defeating the reigning BIG TEN champs, the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes have been a great team for gamblers by winning 9-of-11 SU and cashing ATS in 8-of-11 games. Michigan backers haven't been so lucky. The Wolverines are a stark contrast to the Buckeyes by losing six of their last seven games SU and and ATS. Their only win came against (FCS)Delaware State from the MEAC. Michigan is currently mired in a four game losing streak SU and ATS.
Seldom would I recommend the Buckeyes to cover as a double-digit favorite on the road at Michigan but this year I will be happy to buck the trend. Give the 11 1/2-points and take the Buckeyes.
