College Football Odds 2011 Week 13: Never has a week of action so muddy the college football waters. And never has it been more evident that the BCS is a broken, flawed system that needs to be replaced with a playoff, but I digress. At least it provides a certain measure of drama as Friday's battle between No. 3 Arkansas and No. 1 LSU takes on even greater significance. Should the Tigers fall to the mourning Razorbacks, BCS hell would break loose as no fewer than seven teams, potentially anyway, could make a case for a national championship appearance.
No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks vs No. 1 LSU Tigers (-12.5): Arkansas improved to 10-1 Saturday as it notched its seventh
consecutive win, but the Razorbacks come into Friday's game with heavy hearts after the unexpected loss of freshman tight end Garrett Uekman. It is difficult to say how Uekman's death will affect the team, but this much is certain, Arkansas will play with great emotion against the Tigers. Traditionally the Hogs have played LSU tough in Baton Rouge, despite posting a 1-3 record in four games at Tiger Stadium. The last three meetings between the two divisional rivals in Death Valley have been decided by a total of seven points with Arkansas covering spreads of 16.5, 13.5, and 3.5 points while posting a 1-2 mark. LSU is a perfect 5-0 at home this season, but the Tigers are 2-3 against the spread as a host, failing to cover against Western Kentucky, Kentucky, and Northwestern State. That said, no visiting team has come close to upsetting LSU, falling to Les Miles troops by an average of 34.4 points per game. Then again, none of those teams were near as good as Arkansas.
