Prior to this season, the Big 12 North was the goat of many college football jokes but all critics have been quieted with the emergence of Kansas and Missouri onto the scene. Neither the Tigers nor the Jayhawks have ever played in the Big 12 Conference's football championship game. But these border rivals, who have played 115 times in the past, will battle it out Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the Big 12 North title, a berth in the conference title game and, possibly, a shot at a national championship.
Kansas is currently listed as two-point home chalk for Saturday's game, with a total of 68 ½ according to oddsmakers at SBGglobal.com . Also, the Jayhawks were posted at -130 on the moneyline, with Missouri getting +110 as road dogs.
Neither of these teams entered this season ranked in any of the major polls. But KU and the Tigers have combined to win 21 of their 22 games, and thanks to the attrition throughout the ranks of the ranked, have ascended to the No. 2 and 4 spot respectively in the latest BCS standings.
Both of these teams have also been incredibly kind to their financial backers this season. Mizzou is 8-2 against the spread, while Kansas is a perfect 10-0 vs. the number.
The o/u is 8-2 in Tigers games this season, which are averaging 66 points per, while the totals are 5-5 in Jayhawks games, which are averaging 60 points.
