Heisman Trophy odds and predictions: From the looks of things, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrold’s run as the Heisman Trophy favorite has come to an end. When online oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com updated their college football betting odds for College Football Week 14 on Monday, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford has emerged the leader at -120 odds. In this betting format, a $120 bet will win $100. Harrell had been the favorite since guiding Texas Tech to its win over Texas in Week 11.
Through the season, four different quarterbacks from the Big 12 Conference have been the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at one time or another. In September the favorite was Missouri senior quarterback Chase Daniel. Then for a short time in early October Bradford became the leader only to be derailed by Texas’ junior quarterback Colt McCoy. Then Harrell took over as favorite from McCoy until this week when the favorite’s role falls back to Bradford.
So you might wonder…where does 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow fit into all this Heisman chatter? To answer that question, the Florida junior quarterback is sneaking up on the field and by next week could be neck and neck with Bradford and McCoy. Currently, Sportsbook.com has Tebow at +500 odds to win the trophy behind Bradford (-120) and McCoy +150. Harrell’s odds have slipped to +600.
“There is still plenty of football to be played for a candidate to influence the voting,” said Point-Spreads.com college football analyst Benton Vale. Any little slip up can jeopardize a players chances or a great performance can send a player to the top of the list.”
“Personally, I like Tebow’s chances to repeat, said Vale. He doesn’t need to prove anything to anybody and his team is in the national championship picture.” The kid has a huge stage to be seen in the SEC title game. If he gets his team past Alabama he could be the guy.”
All five quarterbacks listed as Heisman favorites have big games left so its still early to circle any one guy. Especially when the race is this tight.
