Auburn vs Alabama 2010 College Football Picks, 2010 College Football Predictions & 2010 College Football Odds: The fabled Iron Bowl will take place this Friday as Auburn travels to Tuscaloosa to take on hated rival Alabama. The two SEC schools are scheduled to take the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30pm ET tomorrow; the game will be broadcast live on CBS. 2010 College Football Picks, Predictions & Odds at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com have the Crimson Tide listed as a -4.5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 58.
No. 2 Auburn has already secured the SEC West title and a spot in the conference championship game; however, much is at
stake for the Tigers tomorrow when they take on Alabama. Gene Chizek's squad can go a long way toward securing a spot in the BCS National Championship Game with a win over the Crimson Tide. A loss, though, would, most likely, result in the Tigers being leap frogged by either TCU or Boise State in the BCS standings.
Auburn has had almost two weeks to prepare for this game, having last played on November 13th against Georgia. The Tigers, which knocked off the Bulldogs 49-31 in that contest, might have a new wrinkle or two for a Tide defense that is giving up just 293.5 yards and 12.8 points per game. However, the offensive game plan will always center around the dynamic Cam Newton, who has rushed for 1297 yards and 17 touchdowns while throwing for 2038 yards and 21 scores.
No. 11 Alabama comes into tomorrow's game with a 9-2 record and 5-2 conference mark as well as an outside shot at a BCS bowl game. The Tide have also won two straight games, beating Mississippi State and Georgia State, to effectively put their 24-21 loss at LSU behind them.
Despite its goal of a postseason BCS battle, Alabama coach Nick Saban is not concerned about anything but taking care of business against Auburn this weekend.
"The focus this week is on the Alabama-Auburn game, it's not about anything that's going on outside," Saban said. "It's about this week, this time, this game. The culmination of your season sort of gets judged by how you do in this game."
College Football Predictions Betting Trend: Alabama is 9-1 straight up and 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games as a home favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
