Boise State at Nevada 2010 College Football Predictions

by Reno Gold on Friday, November 26th, 2010

Boise State at Nevada 2010 College Football Predictions: There will be plenty of distractions for No. 3 (BCS) Boise State as they head into their game with No. 17 Nevada on Friday (10:30 PM ET, ESPN). By kickoff, Broncos players will know if No. 1 Oregon or No. 2 Auburn has lost, possibly making room for the Broncos to move into the top one or two spots in the BCS standings. Nevada will be looking to knock off the Broncos and earn a share of the WAC championship. While tonight's game is officially only a WAC game, it is unofficially the 2010 WAC Championship Game.

Boise State at Nevada 2010 College Football PredictionsOddsmakers at Sportsbook.com and most other offshore sportsbooks, have Boise State installed as 14 1/2-chalk favorites versus the Wolf Pack with a 69 1/2 total.

Boise State has been a cash-cow for backers against the betting spread all year going 8-2, but has even been better covering on the road at 5-0 ATS. The Wolf Pack, while 6-0 SU at home this year are 3-2 ATS and 5-5 ATS overall on the season. The Broncos have been very good covering large point-spreads going 7-1 when the line was over 21 points.

Both Boise State and Nevada have prolific offenses led by experienced and talented quarterbacks, with the Wolf Pack ranked third in the NCAA (FBS) averaging 537.73 yards per game, less than ten yards more than the Broncos who average 528.8 and are fourth nationally.

Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick is eighth in the nation in individula total offense, responsible for 308.73 yards per game while Boise State junior quarterback Kellen Moore is 17th responsible for 289.9 yards per game. Moore leads the nation in pass efficiency rating of 188.84.

Nevada runs one of the nations best rushing attacks led by senior running back Vai Taua who has a 124.10 yards rushing per game. Kaepernick, 34th nationally rushing, averages 89.45 yards per game.

Reno Gold's pick: I have learned by experience; it's difficult picking against Boise State at home or on the road. I'm betting the Broncos win and cover -14 1/2.
