Oregon would like nothing more than to spoil Oregon State's Rose Bowl hopes when the two teams meet in the Civil War game tonight at Reser Stadium in Corvallis.

Whats at stake? A win by Oregon State and it makes its first Rose Bowl appearance since New Year’s Day in 1965. An Oregon victory could in theory create a three-way tie for the league title. USC would have to lose to UCLA Dec. 6. The bowl participants for the Holiday and Sun Bowls could be determined by Saturday’s outcome, and even possibly the Las Vegas and Emerald Bowls, depending on the Dec. 6 Washington at California game.
For the eighth time in 10 years, Oregon State is bowl eligible and will play in its third straight postseason game. The Beavers remain in control of their destiny for the Pac-10 title, which they shared in 2000 with Washington and Oregon at 7-1.
The Civil War is the seventh-most contested rivalry in the nation and dates back to 1894. Oregon leads overall in the match-up 55-47-10, but the Beavers have won two straight and three of the last four. Last season OSU became the first road team to win (38-31 2 OT) since Oregon’s 1996 victory in Corvallis.
