Virginia Tech has just one loss this season and it came October 1st in Blacksburg to the Clemson Tigers. The Hokies felVirginia Tech vs Clemson Spread ACC Championship Game 2011l 23-3 after their offense managed all of 258 yards and 17 first downs. The lone bright spot for Tech was the performance of junior running back David Wilson, who tallied 123 yards on 20 carries.

The Tigers did not light up the scoreboard either, tallying 323 yards as Tajh Boyd completed just 13-of-32 passes for 204 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Despite Clemson's 20 point victory, it comes into this game a 7.5 point dog thanks to a closing run that included double-digit losses to Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, and South Carolina. Conversely, the Hokies have reeled off seven straight wins since falling to the Tigers.

Virginia Tech's most impressive performance of the season may have been its most recent as it destroyed a quality Virgnia team 38-0 in Charlottesville. The Hokie offense piled up 410 yards in the win while Frank Beamer's defense held the Cavaliers, who turned the ball over four times, to 14 first downs and 241 total yards.

Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas was superb in the rivalry win, completing 13 of his 21 pass attempts for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson also had another outstanding outing, rushing for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Given the the current direction of these two teams, it is difficult to envision the Tigers turning back the Hokies on Saturday; however, Clemson has enough talent to keep things close or pull off the upset if it shows up to play.

College Football Betting Trend: Virginia Tech is 9-1 straight up in its last 10 games as a favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5 points. Clemson, though, is 10-0 against the spread (5-5 straight up) in its last 10 games as an underdog with a spread between 4 and 7.5 points.
