UCLA vs Oregon Spread PAC 12 Championship Game 2011

by Matt Foust on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

UCLA vs Oregon Spread PAC 12 Championship Game 2011: The PAC 1, no doubt, wished for something better, but UCLA versus Oregon is what it will get for its inaugural conference championship game. On paper it looks fine as the Bruins carry a strong name and football tradition, but in reality this game should be a blowout. The odds makers are anticipating as much as No. 9 Oregon is presently listed as a -31.5 against the spread favorite in this Friday night clash at Autzen Stadium (8:00PM ET, FOX). Before making your 2011 College Football Picks on Friday's game get the latest UCLA vs Oregon Spread available now.

UCLA reached a bowl eligible six wins in Rick Neuheisel's fourth year running the program and it garnered a spot in the PACUCLA vs Oregon Spread PAC 12 Championship Game 2011 12's first championship game, but make no mistake, the Bruins had a disappointing season. Many expected Neuheisel to have the program in better shape by now and those expectations led to his dismissal earlier this week.

The former Bruin quarterback will be on the sideline for Friday's championship game, but it will be his last appearance as UCLA's head coach. Will this rally the troops for the lame duck Neuheisel? Probably not, and even if it did, it probably would not matter.

UCLA simply is not in the same class as the conference's elite and it proved as much last week at the Coliseum. USC destroyed its city rival 50-0, leaving little doubt that were the Trojans not suspended they would make Friday's championship game far more interesting.

Oregon, which has won three in a row over the Bruins, figures to win this game going away, especially in its home stadium. The Ducks did fall to the aforementioned Trojans on November 19th at Autzen Stadium, but they rebounded with a 49-21 win over in-state rival Oregon State last Saturday in front of their fans.

This is also a mismatch on paper as Oregon's fast break offense figures to have its way against the Bruins 84th ranked defense. UCLA, which is giving up an average of 411.9 yards per game, has allowed 38 or more points five times this season while the Ducks have scored over 40 points in seven of their nine conference games.
