It will be interesting to see how No 7 LSU will respond after its disappointing 3-OT loss to Arkansas last week when it faces No. 19 Tennessee in the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. An LSU win will give the Tigers an outright SEC Championship and a berth in the Sugar Bowl against Hawaii. If LSU loses, it would play in the Cotton Bowl by virtue of its place in the SEC West Standings over Arkansas and the Volunteers would be going to New Orleans .
Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com like LSU to win having them installed a 7 ½ point favorite. The Volunteers should not be a push-over entering the game on a 5-game winning streak. It is in Tennessee’s favor that LSU might have hang-over from the Arkansas loss and its focus diverted to its coach, Les Miles, flirting with Michigan over its job vacancy.
Tennessee is coming off a wild overtime finish as well. The Volunteers blew a 31-14 third-quarter lead, but outlasted Kentucky 52-50 in four overtimes on the road to clinch a spot in Atlanta. The Volunteers began the season ranked No. 15, but were out of the polls completely following two blowout losses in their first three games. They won their next three to climb back to No. 20, but a 24-point loss at Alabama dropped them out again.
