College Football Picks Week 14: It is championship week in college football as several conferences, including the SEC, Big 12, Conference USA, ACC, and MAC, all wrap up their schedules with title games. Of course the biggest game on the docket is an SEC Championship showdown between No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Alabama at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. No. 3 Texas will also be in action, taking on Nebraska at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas with the Big 12 Championship on the line. The latest College Football Picks Week 14 at Bookmaker.com have the Gators and the Longhorns listed as -5 and -14 against the spread favorites, respectively.
Florida Gators vs Alabama Crimson Tide (+5): This seemed inevitable when the season kicked off, despite the contention
by some that Mississippi would emerge as the SEC West winner. And, while there have been numerous rocky performances from both schools, they have found a way to win as evidenced by their combined 24-0 record. Florida had little trouble in last year's championship meeting with the Tide, winning 31-20, but they will face a more experienced unit this time around, with the exception of the quarterback. Also, as good as Alabama's defense was last year, it is even better this season, holding team's to an average of 10.8 points and 234.1 yards per game.
The Gators will be without defensive end Carlos Dunlap on Saturday, who was arrested for DUI earlier this week. Head Coach Urban Meyer suspended the junior indefinitely after the incident. The loss is significant as Dunlap has 35 tackles and seven sacks on the season. Alabama running back Mark Ingram, who injured his hip in last Friday's 26-21 win at Auburn, has said he will definitely be in action this weekend against Florida.
College Football Picks Betting Trend – Florida is 9-1 straight up and 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
Texas Longhorns vs Nebraska Cornhuskers (+14): On paper this seems like a mismatch as the Longhorns defense appears to be too much for the Huskers offense to handle. Nebraska is averaging 25.6 points and 334.8 yards per game this season, but they have struggled to produce against the better defenses they have faced. The team managed just 13 points per contest against Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Kansas State, but still managed to go 2-2 in those four games. The Longhorns defense will provide them, perhaps, their most difficult test to date as Mack Brown's squad is holding teams to average of 15.4 points and 263.2 points per game.
That said, the Huskers defense is certainly capable of keeping them in this game. Bo Pelini's crew has held their competition to a meager 11.1 points per game. Only Texas Tech, which scored a defensive touchdown, and Colorado topped the 19 point mark against the Black Shirts this year.
College Football Picks Betting Trend – Texas is 7-3 straight up and against the spread in its last 10 games as a favortie versus a Big 12 foe with a spread between 14 and 17.5.
