SMU at Central Florida 2010 College Football Picks: The No. 25 ranked Central Florida Golden Knights (9-3, 7-1 C-USA) will host the Mustangs of Southern Methodist University (7-4, 6-1), at UCF's, Bright House Networks Stadium (Noon ET, ESPN2) for the Conference USA football championship. The winner will represent the league in the Liberty Bowl versus an opponent from the SEC. Today's championship game is the first for June Jones' Mustangs, while UCF is looking for its second league championship in four years.
UCF is listed by oddsmakers, across the offshore college football board, to be 9-chalk favorites versus the Mustangs with a 55 total.
Early betting trends show players buying the Knights as favorites with 67 percent of bettors giving the chalk, while 74 percent are betting UCF wins the game SU. In totals betting, 84 percent of wagers are falling on the OVER to exceed the posted 55 total.
The Knights ended the regular season by winning four of six games straight up at home with a 3-2 record against the point-spread. The OVER cashed on the combined game total two of three times at home and in four of five games overall.
SMU split the six games it played on the road winning three SU and losing three. It was the same against the point-spread with the Mustangs going 3-3. Overall, in 12 games, SMU went 6-6 ATS and 4-4 on totals.
SMU defeated East Carolina on the road 45-38 in overtime last Friday (Nov. 26), clinching a spot in the C-USA Championship game. Zach Line scored two touchdowns for the Mustangs including the game winner in the extra period. The Mustangs covered the betting spread as a 1-chalk favorite, while the total combined points scored cashed for OVER bettors.
UCF won on the road (Nov. 27) at Memphis, 37-17, last time out. In the game, the Knights failed to cover the point-spread as a 26 1/2-chalk favorite. The 54 points scored fell UNDER the posted 56 total.
C-USA Championship Game Pick: The Knights should win SU but I like the Pony's ATS getting 9-points.
