Cincinnati at Pittsburgh College Football Picks

by Reno Gold on Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh College Football Picks: The No. 5 ranked Cincinnati Bearcats travel up to Pittsburgh, Penn., to play the No. 14 Pittsburgh Panthers at Heinz Field with the winner claiming the automatic BCS bowl bid awarded annually to the BIG EAST Conference football champion. The Bearcats are currently undefeated at 11-0 with a 6-0 conference mark while Pitt sits at 9-2 but with only one conference loss. The Bearcats have already claimed a share of the BIG EAST title but need a win over the Panthers to enjoy the spoils of the BCS berth.

College football picks oddsmakers have lined Cincinnati, one of the six unbeaten teams in the nation, as 2-chalk ATS and -130 moneyline road favorites versus Pitt with a 58 total. Backers of the home team Panthers are getting +110 moneyline odds as the underdog.

Saturday marks the ninth meeting between the Bearcats and Panthers, with Pitt holding a 7-1 advantage in the series. Pitt has won five straight games of the series in Pittsburgh. In 2008 the Bearcats got the best of the Panthers in Nippert Stadium on the Cincinnati campus. Bearcats quarterback Tony Pike was 26-of-32 for 309 yards and three touchdown's and Mardy Gilyard had eight catches for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Cincinnati defeated Illinois 49-36 as an 18.5-point favorite in Week 13. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (59.5). Pike passed for 399 yards with six touchdown passes for Cincinnati and Ben Guidugli caught seven passes for 149 yards with two touchdowns in the win.

Pittsburgh was defeated 19-16 by West Virginia in Week 13 as a pick. The teams played UNDER the posted total of 48. Jonathan Baldwin caught eight passes for 127 yards with a touchdown in the loss.

College Football Picks: Pitt is known for wrecking its own conference national championship hopes at the end of the season and might prove the same in 2009. The Bearcats still have outside hopes of getting into the BCS championship game but must beat Pitt decisively. We don't think that will happen. Take the Panthers and the points.
