Houston vs. East Carolina College Football Picks: Conference USA will showcase its football divisional winners, 18th ranked Houston Cougars and East Carolina Pirates, in the championship game to be played Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, N.C. The winner of this game will earn a bid to play in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., where it will probably play Arkansas of the SEC. Kickoff for this ESPN2 televised game is set for 12-Noon ET.
The Pirates, who are bidding to become the first repeat winner since C-USA implemented divisional play in 2005, will look to extend their home winning streak to eight straight against conference members. The Cougars were the last Conference USA squad to hand ECU a setback in Greenville, racking up 621 yards on the way to a 41-24 triumph on Sept. 27, 2008.
With 44.9 points, 583.3 yards of total offense and 443.6 passing yards per game, the Cougars lead the nation in all three categories. Junior quarterback Case Keenum, who recently was named a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Year Award, leads the nation with 4,922 passing yards and 38 touchdowns on 412-of-584 passing.
College football picks: Take the points and East Carolina.
