The 2010-11 college football bowl season continues Thursday with a lower profile bowl, the GoDaddy.com Bowl. For the third time this bowl season, teams from the the Mid-American and Sun Belt conferences go head to head. After going 0-2 to Sun Belt teams in bowls this past December, the MAC sends its champion, the Miami-Ohio Redhawks looking for redemption against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, Mobile, Ala. (8 pm ET, ESPN). Offshore point spreads odds makers have the Blue Raiders lined favorites by -2 points versus the RedHawks with a posted total of 49. Be sure and get the most up to the minute College Football Point Spreads for tonight's GoDaddy.com Bowl where the Blue Raiders and RedHawks collide.
While odds makers favor MTSU in this one, the betting public is siding with Miami to cover +2 ATS with 53% of wagers placed. The public also thinks a SU RedHawks win is highly possible as 78% of money line action is falling on the Red Hawks.
MTSU barely got bowl qualified going 6-6 SU in the regular season, and had to go on the road to defeat Sun Belt co-champs Florida International in their last game. It's interesting that Miami had a much better record, 9-4, and won it's conference championship with a 7-1 league mark. However, odds makers see the Blue Raiders as the favorite.
The reasons for that, listing MTSU favorite, are two-fold. The Sun Belt has dominated the MAC in this years bowl matchups, and Miami was saddled with some coaching turmoil as its coach that led them through the season has departed, leaving an interim staff to coach the team in the bowl game.
Blue Raiders backers did not have a profitable year at the betting window as their team only covered the betting spreads in four of 11 lined games. If there is good news for betting MTSU, it's that they've covered the spreads in their last two games. Betting the UNDER in games MTSU's played has been the most profitable for total's bettors as the combined score has fallen UNDER the posted number 7-of-11 times.
Miami's record covering the betting spread reflects its SU record of 9-4 including cashing in four of the teams last five games. The UNDER has been a great pick for total's players cashing on 11 games.
GoDaddy Prediction : The numbers speak for themselves; play the UNDER on the 49 posted total.
