Iowa will be appearing in the Orange Bowl for just the second time in its history. Head Coach Kirk Ferentz guided the team to the 2003 Orange Bowl, which it lost by a score of 17-38 to USC.
Georgia Tech garnered a BCS Bowl after going 11-2 and winning the ACC Championship. The Yellow Jackets secured the conference crown last weekend with a 39-34 win over Clemson in the league championship game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Paul Johnson's squad, which went 7-1 in ACC play, closed out their regular season schedule with a 24-30 non-conference loss to in-state rival Georgia.
Tech will be making its fifth appearance in the Orange Bowl when they kick things off against Iowa next month. The Yellow Jackets are 3-1 in their previous four Orange Bowls, but they have not played in the game since 1967 (12-27 loss to Florida).
