Tennessee went 4-4 in league play, but finished the season by winning four of its final five games with three of those victories coming against conference foes.
The Vols played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl at conclusion of the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Tennessee lost the 2002 game 30-3 to Maryland and fell in the 2003 game by a score of 27-14 to Clemson.
