BCS Standings - Florida takes top spot: Sunday morning it appeared Alabama could jump into the first BCS standings at No.1 after jumping Florida in the Associated Press college football poll earlier in the day. However - when the BCS Standings were released Sunday afternoon, Florida took the top spot followed by (2) Alabama, (3) Texas, (4) Boise State and rounding out the top-5, Cincinnati. The BCS had Iowa ranked No. 6 followed by the first one-loss team USC at No. 7 followed by undefeated (6-0) TCU at No. 8. Rounding out the BCS top-ten are (9) LSU and (10) Miami. According to oddsmakers at BetUS.com - the Florida Gators , at 5-to-1 odds, were the pre-season pick to win the 2010 BCS National Championship.
Despite winning BCS titles in 2006 and 2008, Sunday marked the first time the Gators have ever been No.1 in the standings, winning both their titles from the No.2 position. Barring upsets in the regular season, Alabama and Florida will meet again in the SEC Championship Game in December. The winner there is expected to play Texas for the national championship. Florida, No. 1 ranked team since the preseason, dropped to No. 2 in the AP rankings. Alabama, which garnered 10 first-place votes last week, received 39 out of 59 from the media panel Sunday to take over the No. 1 spot. Florida received the other 20 first-place votes.
