Navy vs Missouri 2009 Texas Bowl Opening Point Spread: The Navy Midshipmen and the Missouri Tigers have been invited to the fourth annual Texas Bowl, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday December 31st in Houston, Texas. The game will kickoff at 3:30pm ET at Reliant Stadium; it will be televised live on ESPN. The 2009 Texas Bowl opening point spread at Bookmaker.com has the Tigers listed as a -6.5 against the spread favorite.

Head Coach Ken Niumatalolo guided the Midshipmen to a 9-4 record this year, his second with the team. Navy's solid Navy vs Missouri 2009 Texas Bowl Opening Point Spreadperformance helped the school garner a seventh consecutive bowl appearance and finish with the best record among the nation's 1A Independent schools (Notre Dame, Army).

The Middies finished out the regular season by winning three of their last four games, including a December 12th 17-3 win over the Army Black Knights. Navy did anything but embarrass itself against the tougher opponents on its schedule, falling 27-31 at Ohio State and 27-14 at Pittsburgh and recording wins over SMU, Wake Forest, Air Force and Notre Dame.

The Missouri Tigers were attempting to win their third consecutive Big 12 North title this year, but they fell just short of that goal (second place behind Nebraska). Gary Pinkel's squad did better than many projected, though, finishing 8-4 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 action despite losing a number of big contributors on both offense and defense.

The Tigers closed out the regular season playing good football, winning four of their last five games, including three in a row to finish up. Missouri last played on November 28th when it beat arch rival Kansas 41-39 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Missouri has three victories in its last four bowl games, recording wins against South Carolina (Independence), Arkansas (Cotton), and Northwestern (Alamo). The Middies have lost three straight bowl games and four of their last six post-season contests.
