NCAA Bowl Predictions

by Matt Foust on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

With 34 games on tap and intriguing match-ups galore, this college bowl season figures to be one of the best ever. Two of the best match-ups also happen to be in the two biggest games, which are the Rose Bowl featuring Penn State and USC, and the BCS National Championship Game featuring Oklahoma and Florida.

SBGglobal.com has all 34 NCAA bowl predictions, including the Rose Bowl and the BCS National Championship.

Rose Bowl: Penn State Nittany Lions vs USC Trojans (-9, O/U 45.5): NCAA Bowl Predictions
This year's Rose Bowl game, the 95th version, will be played January 1st at 4:30pm ET at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California (ABC). The Nittany Lions, 11-1, flirted with an undefeated season but lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes 23-24 on November 8th. They still finished in first place in the Big 10 as a result of their win over Ohio State. Penn State closed out their brilliant regular season with wins over Indiana and 15th ranked Michigan State. Joe Paterno's squad is ranked sixth in the AP poll and eighth in the BCS standings.

USC, also 11-1, comes into the Rose Bowl riding a nine game win streak. The Trojans finished in first place in the PAC 10 with an 8-1 conference record, losing only to Oregon State. Southern Cal, whose stone-walling defense held opponents to just 7.8 points per game, is currently ranked fifth in the AP poll and the BCS standings.

BCS National Championship Game: Oklahoma Sooners vs Florida Gators (-3, O/U 72): NCAA Bowl Predictions
This year's BCS Championship, to be played in Dolphin Stadium in Miami, is scheduled for January 8th at 8:00pm ET (FOX). The Sooners finished the season with a 12-1 record and a third consecutive Big 12 Championship. Oklahoma concluded the regular portion of their schedule in record fashion by topping 60 points in their final five games. Bob Stoops team, whose only loss came at the hands of the Texas Longhorns, averaged 54 points per game this season and stormed their way to a number one ranking in the BCS standings.

The 12-1 Florida Gators also finished the regular season with a championship, beating Alabama 31-20 on December 6th to take home the SEC crown. The Gators 7-1 conference record and current nine game win streak helped them earn their second national title shot in three years. Their 45.2 point per game and 12.8 point per game allowed averages were also instrumental in attaining their current number one ranking in the AP poll.
