defensive coordinator and first year Head Coach Frank Spaziani. Boston College's four losses came against Virginia Tech, Clemson, Notre Dame and North Carolina; the Eagles dropped those games by an average of 18.5 points. BC went 5-3 in ACC play and finished second to Clemson in the Atlantic Division after winning three of its last four games.
Tomorrow will mark the Eagles second appearance in the Emerald Bowl as BC scored a 35-21 win over Colorado State in the 2003 game. The school is 8-2 in its last 10 postseason games and 13-7 all-time in bowl action.
USC put together its worst season since 2001, going 8-4 and finishing fifth in the Pac-10 with a 5-4 league record. The Trojans were sloppy down the stretch, losing three of their final five games, including blowout defeats against Oregon and Stanford. Arizona also took advantage of the demoralized Trojans by beating them 21-17 at the Coliseum in the season finale.
USC will be making its eighth straight bowl showing tomorrow in San Francisco. The Trojans are 6-2 in postseason play under Head Coach Pete Carroll and they have won the Rose Bowl the last three years (Michigan, Illinois, Penn State) by an average of 20 points per game.
