The Emerald Bowl hosts the Oregon State Beavers (8-4) of the PAC 10 and Maryland Terrapins (6-6) of the ACC at 6:30 p.m. Friday from San Francisco’s AT&T Park. Oregon State is favored by a 5 ½ point chalk according to oddsmakers at Bodog (bodog.com) in the first ever meeting between the schools.
These teams endured a mixed bag of highs and lows during the 2007 regular season. The Terps recorded upsets of Rutgers and Boston College, which were ranked in the top-10 at the time, but also endured a three game midseason skid that included a bad loss to North Carolina. The Beavers won six of their last seven to finish third in the PAC 10 after opening 0-2 in conference play.
Neither team has a flashy offense, so establishing and sustaining a running game will be important. Terrapins running backs Keon Lattimore and Lance Ball will try to work around Beavers linebacker Derrick Doggett. Oregon State running back Yvenson Bernard missed the regular season finale against Oregon after knee surgery but is expected to return. He’ll become well acquainted with Maryland linebacker Erin Henderson.
Beavers quarterback Lyle Moevao will continue to start but Sean Canfield who is nursing a shoulder injury will be available if needed.
