Arizona vs Oklahoma State 2010 Alamo Bowl Spreads Odds & Predictions

by Reno Gold on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

The 24th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys of the BIG 12 Conference will play the Arizona Wildcats of the PAC 10 in Wednesday's 2010 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. The Cowboys were the BIG 12 South Division leaders for most of the season, and destined for bigger things, but after losing to Oklahoma in the teams final regular season game ended up on the outside looking in of the BCS picture while the Sooners went on to represent the league in a BCS Bowl. Arizona is getting a break by catching an Alamo Bowl bid after finishing tied for fifth place in the PAC 10. Be sure to get the latest College Football Point Spreads for all the 2010-11 bowl season.

Arizona vs Oklahoma State 2010 Alamo Bowl Spreads Odds & PredictionsCollege football oddsmakers at most offshore sports betting sites list the Cowboys as 4 1/2-point spreads favorites versus the Wildcats with a 70 1/2 total.

Early betting trends show the betting public strongly backing the Cowobys ATS with 78 percent of spreads wagers placed while 59 percent have wagered for a SU OSU victory on the moneyline. In totals betting, 81 percent of gamblers are risking the OVER cashes on the posted 67 total.

Arizona comes to the Valero Alamo Bowl with a 7-5 SU won-loss record and 4-7 record against the betting spreads. In comparison, the Cowboys had three more SU wins with 10 and only two losses. The Cowboys were a strong betting choice for backers cahing in nine of 12 games against the point spread.

Betting the OVER was the best choice for totals gamblers backing Arizona and Oklahoma State. The OVER cashed against the posted total in six of 10 games Arizona played and cashed in five of eight the Cowboys played.

Oklahoma State's offensive leader is quarterback Brandon Weeden who finished second in the BIG 12 in passing by completing 317 passes out of 470 attempts for 4,037 yards, and 32 touchdowns against only 13 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 156.5.

Running back Kendall Hunter made the Cowboys offense even more potent, as he led the league by rushing for 1,474 yards on 261 carries for a 122.8 yards per game average. Hunter averaged 5.6 yards per carry and scored 16 rushing touchdowns. Oklahoma State led the BIG 12 in total offense averaging over 537 yards per game.

Arizona quarterback Nick Foles finished second in the PAC 10, by completing 254 passes of 376 attempts for 2,911 yards after playing in only 10 games. The Wildcats finished in the middle of the Pac-10 in total offense.

Reno Gold's prediction: Oklahoma State runs an offense that will be difficult for Arizona to stop. I think this game is underlined, only chalking the Pokes as 4 1/2 spreads favorites. This is one of my favorite picks: Best Bet – Oklahoma State -4 1/2.
