Georgia Tech, which fell to the Bulldogs in the 2002 Silicon Valley Classic, will be making its 11th straight bowl trip. The Yellow Jackets are just one of six programs in the nation to have played in a bowl game each of the last 11 years and own a bowl record of 22-13-0, fifth best in the nation.

This year marks the third time in Georgia Tech history that the squad will be led in a bowl game by an interim head coach). The last time was in 2001 when Mac McWhorter served as interim after George O’Leary resigned. Former Navy head coach Paul Johnson has been hired to replace Gailey.

Fresno State marks its eighth bowl appearance in the last nine seasons under head coach Pat Hill. The Bulldogs hold a 9-7-0 mark in bowl games.

The last time Fresno State faced an ACC opponent in a bowl game was in 2004 when the Bulldogs defeated Virginia 37-34 in overtime in the MPC Computers bowl, also in Bronco Stadium.

Georgia Tech is led by All-American TB Tashard Choice, who leads the ACC in rushing for the second straight year and ranks 20th in the nation, averaging 119.1 yards per game.

The Jackets feature one of the top all-around defenses in the country, ranking 11th in total defense, 12th in rushing defense and 17th in scoring defense. In addition, the Ramblin' Wreck tops the country in sacks (3.96) and is second in tackles for loss (9.21). Over the last four games, the Yellow Jackets have recorded a combined 17 sacks.
