The Kansas Jayhawks and the Minnesota Golden Gophers will face each other today at 5:30pm ET in the 2008 Insight Bowl. Kansas returned 15 starters from last season's 12-1, Orange Bowl winning squad, but was not able to find the same success this year. Mark Mangino's team went 4-4 in Big 12 North play and concluded the year in third place in the division behind Missouri and Nebraska.

The Jayhawks are led by senior passer Todd Reesing and sophomore receiver Dezmon Briscoe. Reesing threw for 3575 yards and 28 touchdowns while Briscoe hauled in 78 passes for 1206 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Minnesota completed an amazing turnaround in Head Coach Tim Brewster's second year, going from 1-11 last year to 7-5 this season. The Gophers won seven of their first eight games, but closed out the regular season on a four game losing streak. Their 3-5 conference record left them in sixth place in the Big 10 standings.

The Golden Gophers did not awe on offense or defense, but they did just enough to get the job done. Minnesota averaged 23.4 points per game on offense and allowed 23.3 points per game on defense.
