Michigan vs Iowa College Football Odds, College Football Predictions & College Football Picks: The Iowa Hawkeyes have the top of the Big Ten standings in sight, but they will need a win tonight against the Michigan in order to make a perch there. The Wolverines will be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, and if they can get by No. 13 Iowa, last weekend's trip to East Lansing will seem like a distant memory. Kickoff in this key Big Ten showdown is set for 8:05pm ET at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa (ABC). Michigan fell to 4-1 last Saturday, losing to in-state and conference rival Michigan State 20-26 in overtime. The Wolverines made a furious rally to tie the game up and send it into the extra frame, but they could not get the job done once there. Rich Rodriguez ' squad was fortunate to catch Michigan State at the end of regulation as the Spartans controlled the game on almost every level. Michigan State had a 166 yard advantage and it also possessed the ball almost 15 minutes longer than did Michigan.

The loss dropped the Wolverines conference record to 1-1 and left them in fourth place in the Big Ten standings.

Iowa advanced to 5-0 last weekend, beating the Arkansas State Red Wolves 24-21 at Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes must have had Michigan on their minds because they were not that impressive in a game they should have won by 20 points. Ironically, Iowa's two worst performances this season have come against their two worst opponents. The team nearly lost their season opener against FCS school Northern Iowa, needing a blocked field goal to preserve a 17-16 lead.

The Hawkeyes would appear to be the superior squad entering this evening's game, but they will need junior quarterback Ricky Stanzi to practice a little better ball security if they want to keep this from being a nail-biter. Stanzi has eight touchdown passes this season, but he also has seven interceptions.

College Football Odds Betting Trend: Iowa is 7-3 against the spread and 9-1 straight up in their last 10 games as a home favorite in the month of October.

Alabama vs Mississippi College Football Odds, College Football Picks & College Football Predictions: The Alabama Crimson Tide will put their No. 3 ranking on the line today when they meet SEC West rival Mississippi at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Crimson Tide have won their last four meetings with the Rebels, but the victories have not come easy as the winning margin in those four contests was a combined 13 points. Today's game is set to kickoff at 3:30pm ET in Oxford, Mississippi; it will be broadcast live on CBS. Alabama improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in SEC action last Saturday, scoring a blowout 38-20 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington. The Tide had more total yardage, more third down conversions, and more rush yards than did the Wildcats, but many Alabama players felt the team did not perform well. Kentucky made it easy of them, though, by turning the ball over four times.

"Even though it's a win, we're not satisfied with it," linebacker Rolando McClain said. "We know we could have played a lot better."

Nick Saban's troops know what is at stake today and it is likely they will perform to the standard they had hoped to against the Wildcats. The same standard that has led to a 40 point per game scoring average and that has held their competition to an average of 14.4 points per contest.

According to Saban, Alabama will need to bring its A game in order to get by Ole' Miss.

"(Mississippi) is probably the best team we have played to this point, all the way around," Saban said.

Mississippi improved to 3-1 overall and rebounded from their loss at South Carolina with a 23-7 win at Vanderbilt. Quarterback Jevan Snead continued his wayward throwing, tossing three picks to Commodores defenders in the win. However, the junior passer made up for his errors by completing three touchdown strikes as well. The Rebels finished the game with 397 yards and 20 first downs compared to 240 and 14 for Vandy. The Commodores did rack up 171 rush yards, though, at an impressive 4.5 yards per clip.

The Rebels desperately need this win with three undefeated squads ahead of them in the SEC West standings. If they lose, Snead and company can pretty much forget about a conference title.

Oregon vs UCLA College Football Picks, College Football Predictions & College Football Odds: The Oregon Ducks have a shot at the Pac-10 lead today, they just need to get by UCLA in Pasadena and have the Stanford Cardinal, yes, that Stanford Cardinal, fall against Oregon State. The Bruins are a ways back in the conference standings, but by no means out of the race as this afternoon's contest will be just their second Pac-10 game of the season. Kickoff in this critical league meeting is set for 3:30pm ET at the Rose Bowl; the game will be broadcast live on ABC. Chip Kelly's first season as the Ducks head coach got off to an ugly start as his team fell by a score of 19-8 to Boise State in Idaho. Of course, the game, and the team, was also marred by running back LaGarrette Blount's behavior after the loss. Kelly, however, pulled things together and that night now seems like a distant memory. Oregon has reeled off four straight wins since then, including two straight over conference opposition, to move to No. 16 in the latest polls.

The Ducks pasted Washington State 52-6 last Saturday, a week after shellacking California 42-3. All of Oregon's wins have come at home, though, and today's meeting with the Bruins will be their first road outing since the loss at Boise.

Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who has been instrumental in Oregon's winning play, left the game against the Cougars with a knee injury. His status for today's game is uncertain. Nate Costa replaced Masoli against Wazzu, completing 7-of-9 passes for 80 yards and rushing six times for 26 yards and a score. He will fill in for Masoli against the Bruins if the junior passer is unable to play.

The Bruins suffered their first loss of the season last weekend, losing 24-16 at Stanford. UCLA rallied late to draw within eight of the Cardinal, but they were unable to close the gap on Jim Harbaugh's squad. Quarterback Kevin Craft completed 22-of-34 passes for 204 yards in the loss, leading the Bruins to 299 total yards and 20 first downs. Craft has been filling in for the injured Kevin Prince, but Prince will probably be ready for action against the Ducks tonight. The redshirt freshman has not played since breaking his jaw in a 19-15 win at Tennessee on September 12th.

Rick Neuheisel's team can improve to 4-1 overall and even their conference record at 1-1 with a victory against Oregon today.

College Football Picks Betting Trend: UCLA is 1-4 against the spread and 0-5 straight up in their last five games as a home dog against a Pac-10 foe with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
